“The Unspoiled Queen,” a documentary showcasing Saba and its people’s efforts to conserve the island’s natural treasures will feature four Saba residents, who will show the incredible beauty the island has to offer both above and below the waves, writes The Daily Herald.
Filmmaker and multimedia producer Nick Zachar is the director and producer of this project. He visited Saba in January for a four-day location scout, and returned in late April with a crew for seven days of production including filming, interviewing, exploring and getting to know the people.
The island is deemed a case study of how proactive conservation efforts and a keen understanding of human impact can allow for the preservation of natural resources. Although the island is well conserved, local organisations lack funding and resources that could jeopardise future efforts. This film intends to show what could be if everyone pitched in and took care of our planet.
Production may be over, but the film is not yet finished. The producers need help to raise funds that will allow them to finish the project.
