On Sunday August 28th Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. Henk Kamp, and delegation arrived on Saba as part of a 5 days working visit to the Caribbean Netherlands. Shortly after his arrival on Saba the Minister held a meeting with island Governor, Jonathan Johnson.
Sunday’s activities further included a special presentation by the Saba Conservation Foundation about the work they do including the management of the reserves on the Saba Bank. The Minister further discussed with young and upcoming Saban entrepreneur about doing business, possible opportunities and challenges. “I am happy to be back here and I am impressed by the spirit of entrepreneurship I have seen so far. The development of hiking trails is a good example of how sustainable tourism is being developed on the island. I look forward to learning more about initiatives such as these in the upcoming days.”
On Monday the Economic Affairs Minister will meet with members of the Executive Council of Saba. He will also form part of the ceremony inaugurating the brand new Saba Electric Company (SEC) power plant at Fort Bay.
On Monday afternoon the Minister will travel to Statia for meetings with the Executive Council and the private sector. On Tuesday he will also inaugurate the Solar Park. His visit to the Caribbean Netherlands ends on Bonaire on Thursday.
