Sabans again voted for their favourite personalities in the categories of music and art, sports and education, and business and economy in the annual Saba People’s Choice Awards.
The awards in music and arts went to: Best Band, Believe In The Youth Academy (BYA); Best Female Singer, Abianne Saul; Best Male singer, Joshua Baker; Best Instrument Player; Alpha Nicholson; Best Song, True Love by BYA; and Best Painting, Susan ten Holt.
In sports/education, the Best Team was Saba Bicycle Group; Best Female Athlete, LaToya Charles; Best Male Athlete, Ethan Caines; Best Coach, Leonardo Rodriguez; Best Teacher, Esther Schasfoort; and Best Student, Vera Oei.
In the category of business/ economy, Best aOrganisation was Sea and Learn Foundation; Best Store (Supermarket/ Hairdresser/Office), My Store; Best Gift/Souvenir/ Dive Shop/Boutique, De La Rosa Boutique; Best Restaurant, Island Flavor, Best Employee, Dwayne Johnson; Best Hotel/Guesthouse, Scout’s Place (Wolfgang Tooten); Best Businessman/ Employer, Jennifer Zagers; and Person of the Year, Dexter Johnson of Saba Electric Company (SEC).
The event was organised by the Malofi Foundation and Lorsim Production. Music was by SMS Band of St. Maarten with local entertainment by the Saba Steelpan Orchestra, In The Mix Band and The One Blood Band.
