The first Diabetic Clinic was held in September 2016 under the supervision of island physician Dr. Gijs Koot.

Koot wanted to introduce a Diabetic Clinic on Saba, as there is a high percentage of diabetics amongst its community.

The Clinic is held weekly on Thursdays and is open to all diabetic patients living on Saba.

Nurse De Cuba studied in the Netherlands and worked at MCH Westeinde hospital in Den Haag before moving to St. Maarten in 2006.
Presently, she works for White and Yellow Cross Care Foundation on St. Maarten as a district nurse, specialized in diabetes.

“We are very pleased that our patients can make use of her services here at Saba Health Care Foundation,” SHCF said in a press release issued Monday.
