Saba Electric Company purchases land for second solar park

In its continued effort to go green, Saba Electric Company N.V. (SEC) took one step closer to establishing a more renewable form of energy production in Saba by purchasing additional land for the development of a second solar park. This comes as a result of the decision to reduce the company’s dependence on fossil fuels, thereby reducing its carbon footprint, and to provide its customers with a more sustainable form of energy. The signing of the sale-purchase agreement with respect to the parcel of land took place on Wednesday, May 31, at the SEC office in The Bottom.

The land was purchased from the heirs of the late Mr. Daniel Johnson and his late wife Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Johnson, who are duly represented by Mr. William Johnson.

During the signing, Saba Electric Company N.V. was represented by its Acting Managing Director, Mr. Mark Zagers, while the sellers of the parcel of land were represented by Mr. William Johnson. Also present was Commissioner of Energy Mr. Rolando Wilson, who expressed his satisfaction with SEC in taking this step toward the further sustainable development of Saba’s energy sector.

Accompanying Commissioner Wilson was Government’s legal counsel, Mr. Gerald de Jong, who was instrumental in facilitating the process for the selling and purchasing of the parcel of land.
