The Prosecutor’s Office has demanded a prison sentence of three years for the man suspected of involvement in the death of a 24-year-old student on Saba and of possession of child pornography.
S.C. from Bosnia (32) is a suspect in the so-called Hector investigation in the death of Saba University School of Medicine’s student Kavya Guda on April 15, 2015.
The Prosecutor’s Office considers the man guilty of culpable homicide, but demanded acquittals for murder, manslaughter and rape. The Prosecutor also called for a conviction of possession of child pornography, which was found in the suspect’s computer.
S.C. was extradited from the United States, where he was residing, to Bonaire on January 15. He was extradited to Bonaire at the Prosecutor’s Office’s request. The petition for his extradition was filed in August 2016. Three months later, a court of law in the United States considered the extradition permissible.
The Judge in the Court of First Instance in Bonaire will give his decision in this case on December 8.

I am very concerned about the lenient suggested sentence in this case. I’m aware that I don’t know all of the details, but what I do know makes me wonder how three years could possibly be enough. I would like to know what others think about this.
It seems that with such a lenient sentence that perhaps there is not strong enough evidence to convict him of murder, manslaughter and rape. So, the three years are being sought for him being culpable of homicide. I wonder whether more time would be pegged on for the possession of child pornography.
Three years is no time to spend for raping and murdering Ms. Guda.
