Child Focus and UNICEF collaborate filming of Caribbean Child Right Film Festival

Unicef Netherlands and Child Focus Foundation Saba are collaborating in the production of two short Child Right Films. The topic of the short
film was selected based on the drawing competition, which was held on Friday February 16, 2018. The winning drawing depicted the Child Rights
Article 28 and 29, that all children have the right to an education. The participants were divided into two groups. Each group made a short film about the winning Child Right. The children came up with their own story line, characters, locations and were coached by a film coach of Chizilala Productions.

Kayla Johnson, Elisabeth Henry and John Hassell are deputing as professional movie stars.

On March 18, 2018 at 6.00-9.00 p.m. the red carpet will be spread out during the Premier Gala of the films. During this event the short films will be shown to friends, family, other students and a selected jury at Queens Garden Resort. The winning group will be traveling to Curaçao on April 13 to compete against other winners of the Dutch Caribbean and the Netherlands.

“I really enjoyed the project, because I got the change to have a part in the film, I also learned more about the Rights of the Child”, says Theoni
Wigley (12). “I learned more about friendship and that education is important, because without education we will not make it in live”, says
Kadesha Daniel (12). “The children have shown a lot of dedication towards the project and really enjoyed the filming process. We are really proud of them”, says Micheline Hinse Project Coordinator.

Child Focus would like to thank UNICEF Netherlands and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the opportunity that was created for the children of
Saba.
