Officer Wingrove Baker promoted to Inspector

On April 2nd , 2018 Police Officer Wingrove Baker was officially promoted to Inspector for Korps Politie Caribisch Nederland and on April 21st 2018 his stars were officially pinned on his shoulders. The promotion was honored by Inspector Baker’s family, friends and colleagues.

Present to officially recognize the promotion with thoughtful speeches were Acting Chief of Korps Politie Caribisch Nederland (KPCN) Michiel Marchand and Saba’s Police Chief Gerard van Loo.

To officially seal the moment, Inspector Baker was pinned with his new epaulets by his mother, Ms. Inez Morton and Acting Chief of Police Marchand. Island Council Member Monique Wilson gave a congratulatory speech to Inspector Baker and the KPCN team.

Inspector Baker from a young age aspired to be a law officer and contribute back to his community. On December 1, 1991 Baker joined the Police Force which was then the Korps Politie Nederlandse Antillen. Over the past 26 years in the force Baker has worked in various departments gaining valuable experience and professional training. During his tenure in the force Baker has worked on St. Maarten, Curacao, St. Eustatius, Bonaire and his home-island, Saba. Inspector Baker has a vast amount of knowledge and is fully equipped to contribute to the force and community.

In his speech Inspector Baker said “I am proud to wear my stars as a the son of an immigrant mother who worked hard to send my sisters and me to school and now God has blessed her with life to be able to witness this auspicious occasion. I am looking forward to working together with the team on Saba to serve and protect the Community.”

To commemorate the occasion the guests wished Inspector Baker, his family and colleagues their well wishes with snacks and beverages.
