Six students departed from Saba this weekend to further their education in the Netherlands. Commissioner of Youth Affairs Rolando Wilson and Acting Island Governor Franklin Wilson bade them farewell at Juancho E Yrausquin Airport. As Commissioner of Youth Affairs, Wilson wished them “much success” as they embarked on another chapter in their educational journey.
“Taking a step today to further your education demonstrates the fact that each of you are your own motivators. It’s not just about making more money, but you take a step today because you want to be qualified, you want success and, most importantly, you want to secure your future,” Commissioner Wilson told the departing students.
Going to college would provide and expose the young Sabans to a variety of experiences that would help them gain self-confidence to be a leader and expand their horizon, he said. “Push forward and prove to yourself that you have the discipline to achieve the goals you set out accomplish. Much success to each of you and God’s blessings as you journey to your new destination. Much love,” the Commissioner said.
