On the initiative of an employee this year , Youth Care and Family Supervision Caribbean Netherlands (JGCN) dwelt on the Day of the Youth Professional within the Caribbean Netherlands, with on St. Eustatius and Saba a successful scoop on August 28th and 30th.
On these days, attention was paid to professionals working within the youth care chain. The day programs were geared to the theme ‘Local Cooperation’, where the identity and positioning of youth professionals was discussed, but above all mutual collaborations were central. Participants were interested parties such as representatives of the Public Entities, Mental Health Caribbean (MHC), victim support, the Juvenile and Vice division (zedenpolitie), after-school care for 4-18 years and pediatricians.
There were also workshops in which vision boards were drawn up, focused on local cooperation and the future outlook on this. A vision board is a tool to create focus on one goal. The vision boards included questions for those present, such as the role they play in youth care and what they consider most important for better and more efficient cooperation within the chain. The results were presented at the end of the workshops.
In the Netherlands, the very first Youth professional Day at Stichting Kwaliteitsregister Jeugd (SKJ) was opened by Queen Maxima on September 15th 2017. In the interest of the child, JGCN uses this initiative to promote cooperation within the youth assistance chain. This special day will also be initiated by JGCN on September 14th in Bonaire. Because JGCN strives for better local cooperation, to realize the best possible youth care for children on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
