Commissioner Wilson thanks Saba’s elderly on World Senior Citizen’s Day

On behalf of the Public Entity of Saba Commis­sioner of Gender and Culture Rolando Wilson acknowl­edged and thanked all of Saba’s senior citizens on the oc­casion of World Senior Citizen’s Day, which was observed on Monday, October 1.

“As senior citizens you have sacrificed your entire life in nurturing and building your relationships within the fam­ily and outside the family,” Commissioner Wilson said. “You have each contributed in one way or the other to help us where we are today. You worked hard all of your life to provide for your children and grandchildren. Life was never easy and there were times that some of you did with much less in order to ensure that others had.

“We thank you for the sacrifices, the labour, the morals and values, the stories, the lessons and time that you pro­vided for us. That is why it is only fitting that we give back to you, not only on this day but every chance that we get to let you know you are appreciated,” Wilson said.

As a representative of government, the Commissioner said government would continue to do its best in order to assist wherever it can.

“I would like to thank those who have chosen the profes­sion to work with the senior citizens. May God continue to give you the strength and wisdom to motivate and guide our elderly. To the workers of Saba Life Center, the Lions, cler­gy, individuals, and all other organizations who try to share and make life a bit better for the elderly, I say, thank you. Thank you to one and all, and May God continue to bless each and every one of you,” Commissioner Wilson said.
