Greenhouses to be constructed at schools

In regards to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and stimulating interest in agriculture on Saba, Commissioner Wilson proudly announced that The Ministry of Education would provide funds to the Public Entity Saba to construct a greenhouse at the Sacred Heart School and the Saba Comprehensive School.

This endeavor will provide students with knowledge and experience in gardening that will foster not only their ability and knowledge to produce vegetables for years to come, but it also promotes healthy eating in combination with increased physical activity working in the greenhouses. The Zion’s Hill Farmworkers will also be contributing to this learning experience.

Wilson stated that as Commissioner of Agriculture and Health, it is his task and responsibility to promote sustainable and healthy living within the Saban community and this is the perfect way to start. Exploring the possibilities of starting a hydroponic farm is something that he intends to look into for the future.
