The Caribbean Vocational and Trade Schools network (C-VET) is organizing the second conference about vocational and trade school education. This second conference is the result of the initial conference that was held on Sint Maarten in October 2016. During the conference on Sint Maarten, the desire was expressed to continue to meet each other to discuss and improve vocational and trade school education in the Caribbean, especially the former Dutch Antilles. The participants come from Sint Maarten, St. Eustatius, Curacao, Bonaire, Barbados, Jamaica, Saba, and European Netherlands. The C-VET Steering committee consists out of representatives from the Windward Islands.
During the upcoming conference in November the main focus will be the Caribbean Vocational Qualification, the implementation of the CVQ on St. Eustatius and Saba and to provide all participants with the necessary information about what is needed to implement CVQs. The keynote speaker is Mr. Adrian Holder from Barbados. He will discuss the change in mindset that is needed to implement this Caribbean Qualification with his key note Leading Change.
An informal meet and greet is organized on Sunday November 25, 2018 to get all participants up to speed what is happening on all the different islands as the participants have to give a pitch about their island and the status of vocational and trade school education. On Monday the 26th of November 2018, the participants can choose out of 9 different tables to ask questions and receive more information about CVQs, but also the role of the Caribbean Examination Council, the National Training Agencies, what is needed to implement a CVQ, and many more interesting topics.
