Dutch State Secretary of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops paid a visit tot he newly renovated A.M. Edwards Medical Center on Monday, January 7, 2019.
After a welcoming word by Island Governor Jonathan Johnson, Hospital Director Joka Blaauwboer gave an update on the extensive renovation which is almost entirely completed. After the completion of the ‘finishing touches’, as Dr. Blaauwboer called it, the newly renovated building will be officially opened on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. At hand to provide additional information to the visiting delegation were Commissioners Rolando Wilson and Bruce Zagers, and Doctor Gijs Koot.
Head nurse Lisette Riley gave the State Secretary and his delegation a tour of the newly renovated building, which has, among other things, three doctor’s clinical rooms, a dentist room, an X-ray room, an emergency room, a nurse’s station for in-patients, a nurse’s station for out-patients, two patient wards with three beds each and one private room.
State Secretary Knops said he was impressed by the positive changes that the renovation project brought for the hospital and the big improvements that were made in providing health care for the people of Saba.
