On Friday the 15th of March 2019 the new Collective Labour Agreement was signed by representatives from the Saba United People Labour Union and Association (SUPLUA), Benevolent Foundation Saba (BFS), Saba Health Care Foundation (SHCF), and St. Eustatius Health Care Foundation (SEHCF). The new CLA was negotiated for in 2018 and in October of that year the parties came to an agreed covenant.
Despite financial constraints for all organizations involved, the union was able to negotiate increased benefits for the healthcare workers on Saba and their membership on St. Eustatius.
With this term a ‘year-end bonus’ increase for all employees is put in place; from 750 USD gross in 2018 to 1000 USD gross in 2019, 1250 USD gross in 2020, to eventually 1500 gross in 2021.
In addition; the vacation allowance has gone up to 8%, an additional special leave day annually dedicated to graduation of child, and additional vacation days for shift-workers in permanent service.
The CLA has been negotiated for three years and runs from January 1st, 2019 until December 31st, 2021.
