EU team on Saba Thursday for disaster training

On Thursday September 12, a European Union Civil Protection Team (EU CPT) will be on Saba for a training in case of an emergency on the island.

In the morning hours of September 12, the team members will be performing damage assessments during an exercise. They will be clearly visible, wearing special, recognizable clothing and jackets. In the afternoon hours, they will take part in a table top exercise, organized by the Public Entity Saba. The table top exercise will have as theme evacuation.

Saba’s crisis management team will be part of the exercises as the visit of the EU CPT is a good opportunity to train. Also, tested while the EU team is on Saba, will be the new disaster information management system LCMS.

Originally, Dutch Defense was supposed to partake in the Saba exercise. However, the Navy ships and their crews have been sent to the Bahama’s instead to provide emergency assistance after Hurricane Dorian.
