KPCN: collecting illegal fire arms was a success

During the period from October 21st to the 27th and October 28th to  November 3rd, a campaign to hand in (fire) weapons was held respectively on Saba and Sint Eustatius and on Bonaire. During the campaign, citizens who were in possession of firearms, were able to hand them in. During this campaign, 1 firearm was returned on Saba and 2 on Bonaire. Both the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force and the Public Prosecutors Office are very satisfied with the number of weapons handed in. Reducing the illegal possession of (fire)weapons is in the interest of everyone. If firearms are found after the campaign, the holder will be prosecuted.

Also, various schools in the Dutch Caribbean participated in the competition to illustrate what an island without firearms will look like. The winners of this competition will be announced on Monday, November 25th  on our Facebook page ‘Wapens weg’.
