Former member of the Island and Executive Councils of Saba Peter L. Granger passed away Thursday evening on Saba at Hon. Henry Every Senior Citizens Home, at the age of 94.
Granger served in the Island Council of Saba for some 28 years and during 16 of those years, he also served as a Commissioner. Granger also operated a small grocery store at his home in Windwardside until he became a resident of the Senior Citizens Home. Many Sabans will recall how he championed the struggle to get the Central Government to introduce a pension for former Island and Executive Council Members of Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Maarten and Bonaire.
The Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles at the time found it fitting to have the law named after him as the “Granger Law.”
