The Benevolent Foundation Saba (BFS) signed a rental agreement with Saba Lions Club for the use of the Eugenius Johnson center to function as an extramural activity center for the seniors of Saba. President of Saba Lions Club Mr. Carl Buncamper and BFS Board of Directors, Dr. Joka Blaauboer signed the agreement today in front of stakeholders who have contributed to the development of this endeavor. Representatives of the Island Government, Acting Governor Franklin Wilson, Commissioners Bruce Zagers and Rolando Wilson were in attendance as validation of their support for this project and for seniors of Saba. A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the center in the Eugenius Center.
The center is named L.I.F.E, which stands for Love & Independence For Elders. The main purpose of the center is to increase the well-being of all seniors. It will provide physical therapy activities, meals, interactive games, and devotion opportunities. The seniors of Saba currently attending the program at the second location of L.I.F.E. in the Bottom at “The Honorable Henry Carlyle Every Home for the Aged” chose the name to reflect affection, independence, and healthy aging. The program is a part of a bigger care chain on the island, focused on the seniors.
The operation of the L.I.F.E center at the Eugenius Johnson Center is scheduled for three times a week. For more information about the L.I.F.E. program and about the centers at the Windwardside as well at the Bottom and how to enroll, follow our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/sabalifecenter or contact project manager Mr. Carlos Quijada at +599-416-5332 / life1@benevolentfoundationsaba.org
