Miss St. Maarten Diandra Marlin captured the crown during the Miss Dutch Windward Islands Pageant held on Saba last Thursday. The freshly crowned queen returned to St. Maarten on Friday, and received a royal welcome at Princess Juliana International Airport.
Marlin emerged as winner of the pageant; Miss St. Eustatius Sherees Timber placed second and Miss Saba Natalia Peterson ranked third.
The crowd turned out in large numbers to Carnival Village in The Bottom to witness the show, which not only saw the three contestants compete in various sections. The spectators were also entertained by a number of artistes, among them King Vers from St. Maarten, Mega D Youth Foundation from Statia, Saba’s own reigning Calypso King “Da Man Bob” Morgan, Desmond and his Crew, and DJ Zanderzone.
The pageant consisted of six segments in which each participant was awarded points according to their performance. After all the points were counted, Marlin emerged as winner with 495 points. First-Runner up Timber gathered 389 points with Peterson ending Second Runner-up with 355.5 points.
The titles of Miss Amity and Miss Popularity went to Miss Saba. Miss Statia won sashes in the categories for Best Speech, Best Culture Wear, Best Talent and Best Swim Wear. The categories of Best Evening Wear, Best Interview and Miss Photogenic went to Miss St. Maarten.

Born on August 7, 1999, her friends describe Marlin as sympathetic, loving, outgoing, and vivacious.
This young beauty knows that she serves a purpose and that knowledge is the key to success. The proud student of Milton Peters College mentions cooking, poetry and singing as her hobbies, and, of course, as any 16 year old she enjoys hanging out with her friends and being herself. With aspirations such as studying psychology, she would also like to get her culinary arts degree to get that restaurant she’s always dreamed of.
Being the caring person that she is, Marlin is part of various community-service activities, such as The Voice of Our Children Foundation. She was also a lector in her church. From a tender age she also took time out of her busy schedule to visit I Can Foundation. She is a bodacious spirit, willing to accept a challenge, with her latest challenge being Miss Dutch Windward Islands.
