Still no access to TV programmes

Residents of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba still have little or no access to Dutch TV programmes. Member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament Roelof van Laar of the Labour Party PvdA wants clarity.

Van Laar submitted written questions to Acting Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Stef Blok and State Secretary of Education, Culture and Science Sander Dekker on Monday on this matter.

The Member of Parliament (MP) wanted to know what has materialised of the plans to make Dutch TV and Internet better accessible for the residents of the Caribbean Netherlands and what the reasons were as to why this matter still hadn’t been dealt with.

“Do you share the opinion that it is undesirable that this access is denied to our fellow Dutch people? If so, how will you fix this as soon as possible?” Van Laar asked if and when all Dutch radio and TV programmes would become available on the islands.
